Amir School Of Music Policy:

What is Amir School of Music’s philosophy of teaching?

Amir School of Music believes in creating a holistic, nurturing learning environment and facilitating students’ own capacities for self-exploration and performance. Teachers will provide the material, forums, and guidance for learning, while students set the pace of their improvement through practice and consistent attendance to classes.

How do I schedule a class?

All individual and group lessons will be scheduled out based on the foreseeable future plans of the student and teacher. Students will work directly with their teacher to find a time that works best between them. This will be a set time moving forward until either party needs to make a change (see “What if I need to cancel/reschedule a class?). School, federal, or religious holidays will be scheduled around or cancelled as per both the student’s and teacher’s preferences (see “Are there holidays or events during which I cannot schedule a class?”).

Are there holidays or events during which I cannot schedule a class?

School, federal, or religious holidays can be scheduled around or cancelled as per both the student’s and teacher’s preferences. Amir School of Music observes the following holidays

(2023):

January 1: New Year’s Day

March 21: Nowruz (Persian New Year)

July 4 : Independence Day

September 4: Labor Day

November 23: Thanksgiving Day

December 24: Christmas Eve

December 25: Christmas Day

What is the payment structure for classes?

All individual classes will be billed at the beginning of each calendar month. Amir School of Music operates on an honesty system: monthly payments are expected punctually, but no late fees will be levied against students. All payments will be accepted over the payment portal on the Amir School of Music website or other payment apps as decided by the teacher and the student (e.g. Zelle, Venmo).

What if I need to cancel/reschedule a class?

If a student cannot make one (1) or more classes in a month, they must let the teacher know 24 hours before the lesson and reschedule it for another day and time. Failure to notify a teacher prior to the cancelled class will result in a nonrefundable forfeiture of the class. If the student or teacher believes that a permanent rescheduling of the class is necessary (including if the student consistently can not make their scheduled class time, or if either party’s schedule changes), they will discuss it collectively as soon as possible.

What if a teacher needs to reschedule a class?

If your teacher must cancel a class, they will let you know before the class time. The class will be rescheduled as soon as possible per the teacher’s and student’s availability, or the student will get a credit for next month.

Will there be recitals?

Amir School of Music hosts periodic in-person and online recitals in order for students to showcase their talents. Performance in recitals is optional, and students who decide to perform will be able to work on their pieces with their teachers.
