Philosophy of Teaching

At Amir School of Music, we create a holistic and nurturing environment that supports self-exploration and performance. Teachers provide materials, guidance, and opportunities for growth, while students set the pace of their progress through consistent practice and attendance.

Private Lesson Policy

  • Private lessons are scheduled on a monthly basis. All sessions for the month are arranged at the beginning of the month.

  • Students are expected to take and pay for every session that falls on their regular lesson day during the month.

    • Example: If your lesson is on Monday and there are 4 Mondays in the month, you will schedule and pay for 4 sessions.

  • The only exceptions to the regular schedule are school holidays (listed below).

  • Cancellations are not permitted. You may reschedule a lesson within the same month if you request it at least 24 hours in advance.

  • Lessons missed without at least 24 hours’ notice are forfeited.

  • We understand that travel or other life events sometimes come up. If you will be away for more than two sessions (roughly three weeks or longer) or need to take a full month off and would like to keep your regular time slot, you can hold it by paying half tuition for those sessions. If you prefer not to hold the slot, it may be offered to the next student on the waitlist.

Payments

Tuition is due at the beginning of each month for the number of sessions scheduled. We do not charge late fees and trust students to pay on time.

Payments can be made via cash, Venmo, Zelle or credit card

When Your Teacher Cancels

If a teacher needs to cancel a lesson, you will be notified in advance. The lesson can be rescheduled within the same month if both of you agree. If rescheduling is not possible, you will receive a credit toward the following month.

Recitals & Performances

Recitals are held periodically so students can share their progress. Participation is encouraged but never required.

School Holidays

  • Winter Break — December 24 through January 1

  • Nowruz (Persian New Year) — March 20 or 21 (exact date of the spring equinox)

  • Independence Day — July 4

  • Labor Day — first Monday in September

  • Thanksgiving Day — fourth Thursday in November

Tuition

  • - Half-hour consultation: Free

  • - One-hour online or in-person lesson: $90

  • - Half-hour online or in-person lesson: $50
